The Australian New
Zealand Health Assessment Methods Network
Welcome
to the Network!
Background
On the 15th September 2004 an inaugural
meeting was held at the Health Outcomes Conference
to form a network of people in Australia and New Zealand
who are interested in the assessment of various aspects
of individual’s health (sometimes called ‘health
related quality of life’ or ‘HRQOL’).

Goals, Aims and Functions
The broad aims of the network are to promote understanding
and knowledge of methods (measurement, tools, research
design, data management, analysis and interpretation)
used in health assessment, and to foster a sense of
community and communication among individuals involved
in researching and teaching health assessment methods.
In the first instance the network will be administered
through the Centre
for Health Service Development but the network committee
will be responsible for steering the directions of the
network and its proposed activities.
At the inaugural meeting
it was proposed that:
A list-serve be established for this group (below you
will find a link to the list serve).
A seminar combined with an annual meeting to be convened
at the next Health Outcomes Conference.

Email
Discussion List
The email discussion list is to facilitate discussion
of health assessment methods and issues. Feel free to
send information and requests for information around
these topics to the email discussion list. The size
of any attachments is limited to 512kb; larger attachments
will go to the email discussion list moderator, who
will decide whether these documents are suitable for
the mail list. So it is best to keep attachments small
or put most of your document in the main message. The
moderator will also consider the appropriateness of
messages that advertise material and events, such as
conferences, seminars, workshops and publications, prior
to posting.

Membership Register
A membership form will be available soon which will
provide information about your research interests and
activities for the ANZ-HAMN database. It is anticipated
that the network will receive queries concerning the
availability of people who have particular skills and
expertise to either assist or collaborate with other
researchers or requests to provide information on particular
topics, and the database will help us to identify members
who can assist with these enquiries.
