Fractured Neck of Femur (#NOF)

#NOF, comprising 6.6% of rehabilitation episodes submitted to AROC in 2006, was the first clinical area against which AROC facilitated the benchmarking process. A benchmarking workshop was hosted on 26 October 2007. Targets were finalised and published in June 2008 and will be up for a review shortly - date to be confirmed.

Stroke

Stroke comprised 9.7% of rehabilitation episodes submitted to AROC for the financial year 2006/2007. A benchmarking workshop was hosted on 22 February 2008. Targets were finalised and published in June 2008 and will be up for a review shortly - date to be confirmed.

Brain Injury

Brain Injury (BI) comprised 3.5% of rehabilitation episodes submitted to AROC in 2007. A benchmarking workshop was hosted on 12 September 2008. Targets were finalised and published in July 2009 and will be up for a review in July 2010.
One of the key points raised at the workshop was the desire to collect additional BI specific data items that could be used to inform current clinical practice. A BI adjunct module was developed and a pilot of data collection started in July 2009. Their applicability will be reviewed when sufficient data has been collected.

Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) comprised 1.6% of rehabilitation episodes submitted to AROC for the financial year 2007/2008. A SCI benchmarking workshop was hosted on 19 November 2008.  Outcome targets were not finalised due to the low incidence of episodes. In addition, one of the key points raised at the workshop was the desire to collect additional SCI specific data items that could be used to inform current clinical practice. A SCI adjunct module was developed and a pilot of data collection started in July 2009. Their applicability will be reviewed hen sufficient data has been collected.

Reconditioning

Reconditioning comprised 18.8% of rehabilitation episodes submitted to AROC in 2008. This number has doubled in the last 2 years. A reconditioning benchmarking workshop was hosted on 3 July 2009. Discussions primarily focused on differentiating this large cohort and developing outcome targets. The outcome targets are currently being finalised.Providers identified specific additional reconditioning data items that would be meaningful to collect. A reconditioning adjunct module was developed and data collection started in August 2009. Their applicability will be reviewed when sufficient data has been collected.
